Joy Of The RubiesThis beautiful 40 acre property with 2800 sq. ft. home is adjacent to the Ruby Mtn. Wilderness area. Final completion of home was approximately 2006.

Two-story and basement, deluxe home with barn, large lawns, orchard, creek, well, spring water to house, irrigation system, rock driveways, and parking. 

This house was custom built by the owner with the best material that could be had with many loads of lumber being brought in from California. The house is approximately 2800 sq. ft. with three bedrooms, dressing room, three full baths, upstairs family room and a downstairs family room/den, living room, dining room, kitchen, eating area off the kitchen, mud room and a small office. The basement under the kitchen has a lot of shelving and storage space. There are many closets, storage areas, cabinets, built-ins. The logs for the ceiling are from Idaho and were flat milled on one side so they would fit tight against the ceiling. They were then hand peeled, belt sanded smooth and professionally finished. The beautiful wood ceilings in the living and dining rooms and the covered deck are Aspen from Colorado. The living room fireplace veneer is sandstone from Utah and the rock work completed by Pete Jones of Elko. The installation of the lifetime plastic decking cost over $12,000. All screws were carefully placed underneath so they would not be visible.

These are only some of the custom features of the house. There is plenty of electrical, good lighting, ceiling fans, quality plumbing and fixtures, three water heaters – one new propane and two electric, two central vacuum systems, and phone jacks in all rooms, paneled walls, sound system, satellite TV, two stereo systems, exterior lights controlled from inside, and an alarm system. Over $20,000 was paid for window coverings, wallpaper and bathroom lighting from Bella Interiors.

Outside features are forty fenced acres, 5,000 sq. ft. barn, wood shed, orchard, lawn areas, irrigation system, well, spring water to the house, creek, Aspen and pine trees, deck with raised planter, rock wall, rail fence, rock driveways and parking, log and stone entrance and million dollar views of the Ruby Mountains and the valley. The barn has two garage units, one very large with automatic door opener, concrete floors, fully wired, fluorescent lighting throughout, a heated shop and two animal stalls with outside access plus a large loft with storage shelving on all the walls.

Home is at 6,500 feet elevation, adjacent to Ruby Mountain Wilderness Area, directly accessible by own private road.  House is surrounded on three sides by US Government land with no public access.  Mountains directly behind this property go to over 10,000 feet. 

This is truly a unique sportsman’s paradise.  Totally private, unbothered wildlife - deer under the decks, mountain sheep and mountain goats on the ridges; Chukar, badgers, mink, rabbits, squirrels, etc. found on or through this property; Truly great trout and bass fishing in lakes less than 20 miles away; Boating, fishing, hunting, skiing archaeology, (arrowheads in our yard) and great history in this area.  The Donner Party crossed the valley on the way to California.  The Pony Express Route is just a few miles south of here.
