Tabor Creek Ranch *SOLD* Location: The property is the old Barger Farm about 22 miles north of Deeth on the road to O'Neil basin, northeast of Elko, Nevada.
Reason for sale: The current owners have located a property that is closer to their base property, thus cutting down travel time and duplicity of labor and equipment. Acres: Approximately 6,400 total acres (2,450 irrigable acres) Irrigation System: A total of 2,450 acres are irrigable with 2,450 acres under cultivation at this point in time. The irrigation system is center pivots that cover about 122 for the valleys and 123 for the Zimatics- acres apiece, each pivot requires between 800-850 gallons per minute and these systems do not have end guns. There are a total of 20 operational pivots, with 10 newer Zimmatic machines and the remaining 10 are Valleys. Water is supplied by a combination of 5 wells. Well | Gallon per Minute | Pumping Depth (feet) | 1 | 3400-3600 | 80-90 | 2 | 3400-3600 | 80-90 | 3 | 2200-2400 | 220 | 4 | 2400 | 135 | 5 | 2400 | 135 |
All of the wells are interconnected and 16 out of 20 pivots can be irrigated at the same time. It is felt that if well #3 was cleaned that 17 out of 20 could be operated at the same time. All of the mainline is PVC 125 PCI, either 8” or 10” in diameter. The pumps are all 300 horsepower; cost per acre ranges from $40-$50 for grain to $50-$60 for irrigated pasture. Crops: 610 acres of irrigated pasture 244 acres of alfalfa Remainder in a grain rotation Currently the owners are building a wheat base for 2007 Farm Bill. After the wheat base has been established the plan is to plant more irrigated pasture, up to 13 pivots out of 20. The remaining 7 would be part of an alfalfa/grain rotation. Capacity: The 3,978 acres of dry ground is a combination of improved grasses and native grasses. Currently it is capable of supporting about 150-200 head of cow/calf pairs for 9 months of the year. The orchard grass supports running 1500 head of yearlings or 700 pairs. Improvements: Large, steel livestock corral (capacity: 2,500 head). Large shop. Two manufactured homes. Small set of corrals. A 50 ton truck scale. Powell 10X20 livestock scale 20,000 pounds.
